A successful model for over 38 years, this is the option still offered to most families. In the NMHSA model of this program, children attend classroom activities three days per week and parents receive 8 contacts during the program year either in the form of home visits or parent-teacher conferences. Children attending NMHSA centers are funded by the federal Head Start program or the State funded Comprehensive School Readiness Program. This model follows the school calendar and children are between the ages of three and five. Five sites offer a full day full year Head Start experience.
