Families with children ages 0-3 are enrolled, sometimes even before the baby is born. The NMHSA Early Head Start program is a year round home visiting program, with opportunities for families to attend socialization experiences at several different area Family Development Centers. Parenting issues, health assessments and developmental milestones are promoted. Both parent and child receive support in their development. As children turn three, they are assisted in transitioning into a 3-5 year old program. We are also working with Child Care Partners on a model that enhances the connection between the parent and their child care provider through home visits done at the child care and in the home.
