The Michigan Saves IDA Program is a new savings program for people who want to build financial assets. We will work with you to provide the extra dollars and tools to help you build your own bright future. Open an IDA Account and every $1 you save will be matched with $2 or $3 toward one of these eligible uses: Down payment on a first home Tuition for college or vocational training Small business start-up or expansion To be eligible for the Program, you must:: Agree to save an average of at least $20 per month from your earned income.Agree to complete an educational series on financial management and asset planning. Agree to meet other IDA Program requirements as described by NMHSA's IDA Counselor.Show proof of your earned income that meets the income eligibiliy guidelines (i.e., a family of 4 can have an annual household income of up to $36,800 and be eligible). FMS staff offers Financial Management workshops and individual counseling which help participants learn how to manage their personal finances.
The Financial Management workshops are offered monthly and cover the following topics: Setting Goals Economic Literacy Budgeting Ideas Credit Repair Financial Services Planning for Your Future A schedule of the Financial Management workshops can be found on the Community Services Calendar.
Individual Budget Counseling involves one-on-one personalized sessions in which a Counselor will help a customer prepare a household income analysis and establish a money management and bill paying plan.
