The low-income Home Weatherization Program is funded by the Federal Department of Energy(DOE) and administered by the Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS). The program provides free energy conservation services for eligible low-income households. DHS contracts with Northwest Michigan Human Services Agency (NMHSA) to operate the program. The Agency determines applicant eligibility, performs the necessary inspections and contracts with qualified, licensed and insured private Contractors to complete the work.
Services may include - Ceiling, wall & floor insulation.
- Interior sealing of major cold-air infiltration areas utilizing blower door technology.
- Furnace inspection and tune-ups.
Studies show a 15-30% reduction of fuel usage. (Actual results may vary)
Who is eligible for these services?
Any homeowner/renter may be eligible if they meet the 150% Federal Poverty guidelines listed below:
